Hi,

you all know the dutch article about the outbreak in 1967:

http://wap.knmi.nl/kenniscentrum/windhozen_1967.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Now a german version is available:

Thx to Uwe Bergholter!

15.08.2008: "POLAND TORNADO OUTBREAK August 2008".

The Poland Tornado Outbreak in August 2008 took place on 15th August 2008 (traditionally it is The Assumption Day in Poland) in Southern and Central Poland (Opolskie, Silesian and Łódzkie Voivodeships). A long lived supercellular thunderstorm began in Opolskie Voivodeship, near Kędzierzyn - Koźle, and moved to north east. That supercell caused a few very strong tornadoes, which destroyed or damaged more than 1000 buildings. In Kalina and Rusinowice (Silesian Voivodeship) tornado killed 2 people. Earlier (in the morning) a violent hailstorm passed over Katowice region (hailstones had up to 8 cm in diameter).

Tornadoes:
1 Sieroniowice, Balcarzowice, Błotnica Strzelecka (Opolskie) / F3-F4 / 20 km / ~1000 m / ~ 15:15 UTC / 15 injured
2 Rusinowice, Kalina, Herby (Silesian) / F3 / ~17 km /~400 m /~15:40 UTC /2 killed
3 Blachownia, Częstochowa (Silesian) / F3 / ~15 km /~400 m /~16:00 UTC
4 Mykanów, Łochynia, Kruszyna (Silesian)/ F2 / ~10 km /~200 m / ~16:20 UTC /40 injured
5 Radomsko, Stobiecko Miejskie (Łódzkie) / F3 / ~4 km /~500 m / ~16:40 UTC
6 Blok Dobroszycki (Łódzkie) / F1 /~16:50 UTC
7 Gomunice, Chrzanowice (Łódzkie) / F2 / ~20km / ~17:00 UTC
8 Gorzędów, Gorzkowice, Stara Wieś (Łódzkie) / F3 / ~9 km / ~500 m / ~17:15 UTC
9 E Radom (Mazowieckie) / F1 / ~19:00 UTC

On the next day 2 another F1 - F2 tornadoes (unfortunatelly not fully veryfied yet) occured in the northeastern part of Poland.

Hello, I am from Romania, there are some mistakes which I want to correct.

1 RO Movilita (Ialomita) / F1 / ~1 km / 60 m / 1105 UTC
2 RO Buftea (Ilfov) / F0 / 0.5 km / 10 m / ~1200 UTC
3 RO Ciobanu (Constanta) / Int.unk. / path length: ? / path width: ? / ~1300 UTC
4 RO Hârsova (Constanta)
5 RO Brezoaiele (Dambovita)
6 RO Olimp (Constanta)
7 RO Cernavoda (Constanta)
8 RO Nicolae-Balcescu (Calarasi)
9 RO Alexandria (Teleorman)

Indeed most of those were F0-F1, only the one in Movilita possibly a weak F2. The one in Olimp was a waterspout.
Hope you don't mind :)

Hey Andrei,

thank you very much. The material I used was quiet old. However, I'm going to change the reports in the database.

Thank you,

regards,
Thilo
